Sharing Christ on Campus

The Faculty & Researcher Christian Network – UK (FRCN-UK) provides a fellowship and forum for academics who have a heart for sharing the Gospel especially with those from mainland China. This Spring, COCM Mission Centre hosted FRCN-UK’s second annual conference. Yin-Ling Leung reports on a fruitful day.

This year’s conference was attended by thirty participants, all scholars and researchers in different fields from various UK universities. The theme being considered was The Bible and 21st Century Evangelism. The day opened with Professor Colin Garner of Loughborough University giving a stimulating keynote message, followed by an update from Professor Andrew Chan on recent developments within FRCN-UK.

In an afternoon workshop entitled Be a Successful Career-Family-Church Person, Professor Chan reminded us that as a group of academics we have our faith in common; we are all saved by Christ and we understand that God wants us to share the Gospel with our fellow Chinese. God has blessed us by putting us in a respected social position which should be used for the good in our Christian witness; as Jesus says, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48). Our universities are a huge harvest field where we meet many Chinese students and have plenty of opportunities to share Christ. However, we must also recognize the realities of our busy lives – challenges in the workplace and pressures in the family home. We thank God that as a group we are in the same boat and are able to understand and support each other.

The talks and discussions were deeply treasured and we are looking forward to our next meeting on 15 September 2007. This will be a one-day workshop covering many interesting and practical subjects, including:
